History

St Peter’s Primary School was opened in 1979 due to the rapidly increasing population of the West Sunshine area. Originally administered by the Marist Fathers, the Claretian Fathers took over the administration of the parish and the school in 2009.

Since 2021 the school has been administered by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd as part of a network of 300 schools across Melbourne.

St Peter’s Catholic School has been influenced by the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the local Sunshine community, with 22 nationalities currently represented in the school population. The school has built on the close relationships with families and the local community to maximise the learning potential of all students.

Located adjacent to Kororoit Creek, the school has undergone extensive expansion and development since it first opened and a newly proposed masterplan will take the community well into the middle 21st century.
